Vintage Fender Vibrolux Reverb vs Gorilla Amp
The best amp ever, vs the worst amp ever.
I'm going to take what is considered one of the best amps ever and crank it's volume all the way to maximum., Then I will take what is considered one of the worst amps ever, and crank it's volume up to Max. Full Blast. Watch what happens....
Have you ever wondered what a vintage amp turned all the way up sounds like? I also wondered. But then I wondered what a really crappy amp turned all the way up sounded like. So... it's the Best amp ever vs worst amp ever. I turn up a Vintage 1960s Fender Vibrolux Reverb amp to maximum volume and compare it against a Gorilla GG-20 cranked up. This is the amp shootout that no one was asking for. You’re welcome. This Vintage Fender vibrolux reverb is considered to be one of the best amps ever made. My dad’s friend gave it to him in the 1970s. They weren’t that valuable back then. Of course lately their value has gone up a bit. This particular vibrolux still has most of the original tubes. It’s pretty much stock. The components seem to be all original. I’ve used it sparingly and hardly ever gigged with it cause it scares me to use it. It sounds really nice. Just out of plain curiosity I’ve always been curious what it would sound like turned all the way up. I know that’s not where the best tones are. I know everybody wants to find ‘edge of breakup’ tones. But that is boring. I’ve always wanted to hear this baby cranked in a controlled setting and so I just decided to make this video for fun. Yes I know I’m out of tune. Sorry! The gg20 gorilla guitar amplifier is considered by many to be one of the worst amplifiers ever made in history. I believe this was just left behind in the barn by a family friend. These amps have a bad reputation. I actually managed to fix it and bring it back from the dead. I don’t think it sounds bad. Actually with a jazz box and the tone turned all the way off, I think it sounds GOOD for jazz. It’s a fun little number. I think they have a use. The eight inch speaker definitely gives it a weird EQ which I like. So it’s kinda like the best amp ever verse the worst amp ever shootout. The amp comparison you never knew you wanted. Expensive amp vs an amp someone would pay you to take.
