I'm a guitar player. Can you help me switch to Uke?
Yep. It's actually an easy switch because most of the open chord shapes feel the same as they did on guitar.
Do you teach every student the same way?
Some things, like open chords, strumming patterns, and playing in time, are important for all ukulele students to learn. I want all my students to learn these things. But every student has their own way of learning. For instance there are a number of ways that I approach teaching strumming patterns. It depends on the learning style of my student, which I decipher after a few minutes of working with them. We move forward at a comfortable pace, and there are materials that each student can use to go ahead on their own if they wish. My private ukulele lessons are tailored for you. Do you teach kids ukulele lessons?
Absolutely! I offer ukulele lessons for kids. In fact, the ukulele is a lot easier to play than guitar, and it is a great introductory instrument for kids. The strings are light, the instrument is small, the pitch is easier for kids to hear and resonates better with them. Best of all, it is simple to translate everything they've learned from the ukulele and put it onto the guitar. Most of the chords have the same shapes as on guitar, and it is only a matter of transposition!
