Who can join a jam?
Currently enrolled students are eligible to join. Typically you will be placed in a group appropriate to your level and age. If you are joining with a friend, or with your own band, we can customize your experience.

How long are the Jams?
Most jams are 2 hours.

Where are the jams?
Jams are held in rehearsal studios in central LA, or at student homes.

How often are the jams?
Jams are offered roughly once a week, with breaks during holidays.

What exactly happens in a jam?
Jams are a chance to meet up and play music together. I adjust each jam to accommodate the students in attendance. Typically everyone shows up knowing some material in common, and we take it from there. Students rotate instruments, and everyone will get a chance to try lead guitar, rhythm guitar, singing, bass, and drums (if you want). Often we will try impromptu simple songs that we learn on the spot. Some jams will be improvised! I offer hands on feedback and 1-on-1 coaching in the jam sessions.

What if I'm a complete beginner?
I require students to have a certain level of competency in order to attend jams. This is why jams are only open to current students or by invitation. Once you know a few chords and feel comfortable, you will enjoy the jam sessions! Beginners are eligible, but absolute beginners with no playing experience will struggle to enjoy the experience.

I'm nervous - what's the vibe like?
If you have never played with other people before, don't worry. My goal is to make everyone feel comfortable, and for everyone to have fun! Most students feel very nervous attending their first jam. This is normal. Every student who is invited to the jam is a very gracious person, and that makes for a great environment. We have never had an instance of anyone being anything other than highly supportive at a jam session, and that is the environment we cultivate.

What if I want more of a challenge?
If you are an advanced player looking to push your playing to the next level, I will pair you with more advanced players. We will work on more challenging repertoire, and I will offer more nuanced critique. Some of my students are in working bands, or are preparing for careers in music. It's great to organize like minded students who really want to push themselves and reach the next level in their musicianship!

“Travis Raab first off is a great guitar player and a guy that I could just listen to play some kick ass lead guitar. Which is why I take lessons from him. He doesn’t get over complicated and will have you playing guitar like we all dream we can. Check out his site and decide for yourself but trust me you won’t go wrong..” -Bill Engvall (Comedian)
