Warm Audio Centavo and Warm Drive Review

Warm audio has released two new guitar pedals - a clone of the Klon Centaur, and a Zen Drive Clone.

What's the difference? And how do they sound?

I’m a huge fan of Warm Audio, an awesome company who makes faithful recreations of legendary recording gear…

So you can imagine how excited I was when they reached out to have me try out their brand new pedals in the studio. Warm has just announced the Centavo and Warmdrive, adding two new authentic recreations to their pedal lineup! Being a warm audio fan, it was also really cool to get my hands on these before they were released to the public. I got a chance to see what kind of cool guitar pedals this company is working on, and also I just LOVE testing out new gear! In this video I give both of these guys a spin and even compare the warm drive to my hermida Zen Drive!

Check out the video here:

The Centavo is a true-to-original overdrive pedal that authentically recreates the legendary experience and adored tones of the now-discontinued 90’s professional overdrive pedal. The Warmdrive is a true reproduction of a highly revered pedal known for delivering the tones of an otherwise unattainable overdriven amp.

Both pedals use premium components in their true-to-original circuit designs to faithfully reproduce these iconic tones.

After testing out the Centavo, the Warm drive and the Zen drive in the above video. I decided I also wanted to test these pedals out against my other two favorite pedals - the Tim and the Timmy. The Tim and the Timmy have been my favorite pedals. I think I've had the Tim for almost 20 years! To learn more about these pedals, read this article.

So in the video above, I made the ultimate guitar pedal shootout. The Centavo vs the warm drive vs the zen drive vs the Tim vs the Timmy! I use both humbuckers (Les Paul) and single coil pickups (Telecaster) and I tried to play the same lick using all 5 pedals so you can REALLY hear what they sound like! Give it a listen:

What do you think? Which pedal is your favorite? For me - the Tim and the Timmy off a really transparent sound. The time is even more transparent. Then, the zen drive, warm drive, and centavo offer more color - but still a really nice and balanced overdrive.

I could totally use any of these pedals to get by as my only pedal on pretty much most gigs and recording sessions. If you're interested in learning more about pedals and gear reach out.
